Philip's expertise will enhance OSI's portfolio of project development and advisory services by strengthening and broadening its array of client services in optical network design, system delivery, system commissioning, and operations, administration & maintenance. In his role, Phil will provide OSI's clients with state-of-the art solutions in submarine cable system networks adapting the latest technologies that optimize bandwidth, latency, resiliency, and flexibility for our telecom and energy sector customers.

Jim Byous, OSI's President, stated "the submarine network projects we are developing for our customers - particularly in the deepwater oil and gas environment - continue to increase in technical complexity, so the addition of Phil's experience and skills adds considerable strength to our project delivery capabilities. Phil's knowledge of network and equipment solutions will also be a cornerstone for identifying and developing executable business strategies among OSI's commercial telecom networks operator clients."

Prior to joining OSI, Philip was employed at Futurewei USA (Huawei) as a Senior Scientific Technologist in their advanced optical networking group with a responsibility for designing advanced terrestrial and submarine optical transport networks. Philip is a 3rd generation submarine cable system specialist (his great grandfather worked on the cable ship MacKay-Bennett of Titanic fame). He has 21 years of experience in the submarine cable industry, which includes operations of CANTAT-2, TAT-9, CANTAT-3, CANUS, and 360atlantic/Hibernia Atlantic.

Singapore. The Asia Pacific office of Ocean Specialists, Inc. (OSI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jerry Brown to the position of Technical Manager - Subsea .   In this role, Jerry will focus initially on the management of OSI’s offshore oil and gas undersea fiber network projects.

Pierre Tremblay, Managing Director of OSI’s Asia Pacific office said  “The combination of Jerry’s people skills, professionalism, commitment, and technical expertise will be invaluable to continue our expansion in Asia Pacific.  We are very excited by this development.”

Jerry has a PhD (Mechanical & Industrial Engineering) and is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, and has more than 25 years experience in the design, manufacture, marine installation and maintenance / repair operations of subsea cable systems covering both fiber optic telecoms cables and oil & gas umbilicals for companies including STL Labs and Alcatel Submarine Networks.  Most recently, Jerry was involved in the establishment of engineering and manufacturing facilities in Thailand for the manufacture of subsea umbilicals for the Oil & Gas industry.

In this role, David will support OSI's project management, project consulting and advisory services with a focus on full life cycle development of submarine cable system projects in the commercial submarine telecommunications, offshore oil and gas and submarine telecommunications markets.

Prior to joining OSI, David was employed at TE Connectivity / SubCom, as Director, Project Management, with a responsibility for the delivery major undersea telecommunications systems. In all, David brings 21 years of experience in the submarine cable industry, with direct involvement in the project management, engineering and commercial segments of the industry. Jim Byous, OSI's President, stated "as OSI is seeing an increasing demand by its clients for the management of full submarine system procurement, delivery and commissioning, Dave's skills and experience will add even greater strength to our execution of these projects ".

Perry is currently managing OSI's support to several major offshore oil and gas undersea fiber system developments both in the Gulf of Mexico and across the globe.
