OSI Drafts in Emerging Engineering Talent to Support Busy Summer Roster

Ocean Specialists, Inc (OSI) welcomes Christian John Michaelis back to the team as a summer hire to help support company expansion plans. Returning for a second year as an intern, Christian will hit the ground running and assist OSI leadership with the design and development of marine projects, in the areas of mechanical, electrical, and SW engineering.

Starting his 4th year at the University of Florida, Christian is pursuing a major in electrical engineering and a minor in music (jazz). He currently serves as president of Solar Gators, the university’s solar car design team. Before being elected president, he served as motor controller lead, business coordinator, and electrical project manager.

“We are very pleased to welcome Christian back to the OSI team,” said OSI General Manager Perry Wright. “This is a busy period of growth for OSI, and we believe that working with local emerging talent like Christian is a win-win situation in terms of talent acquisition and learning and development; it gives OSI the opportunity to collaborate with local emerging engineering talent while, at the same time, gives Christian direct and live access to some of our more exciting subsea systems integration projects in the field right now.”

“I am looking forward to joining up with the OSI team once again to support the development of several challenging marine-engineering projects,” said Christian. “This internship will serve as another fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on experience of several disciplines, including systems research and development, prototype design, and simulation.”
